Billy Elliott Angry Dance

Catharsis....I know a thing or two about economic, social, and family frustrations and to watch Billy Elliott channel his frustrated energy and pressure into dance was so right on.

The Beauty That I Seek

I want to check out this spring Exhibition at the New York Botanical Gardens.

"This stunning tribute to French Impressionist Claude Monet showcases a seasonally changing interpretation of the gardens that inspired his art. In addition, two rarely seen original paintings--one of which has never been shown in the United States--will be on exhibition, and films, concerts, poetry readings, and hands-on art for kids will provide rich insight into the life and work of this renowned master."

National Geographic's Photos of the Day Daily Inspiration

Once upon a time, I used to want to be a National Geographic photographer. But now I can't imagine living without my Sealy Posturepedic, chai lattes, moisturizer, or lip balm. If I ever lived the lifestyle of this type of adventurer, ideally it would be on the set of some movie with a trailer to boot. But still, these National Geographic Photos of the Day keep me inspired during my hustle and bustle city life. The imagery keeps me looking forward to future adventures and the things that are truly worth living for.

MIMA

Tonight I had the pleasure of mingling with the founders and community of MIMA, the organization purely built on improvisation also described to me as the summer camp for adults. There is alot to be said about and left unsaid about showing up to a place where someone says "at tonight's MIMA event we are going to make bread and learn to Tango."

To which I think, I like bread, I like to Tango. Beyond that I didn't know much besides I felt a warm welcome from one the founders a few days prior, I felt no pressure and participation is at your own will. Through tonight's experience I found myself singing to strangers, closing my eyes while making bread, dancing sensually, blushing constantly and laughing with people as we embarassed ourselves and learned new things together.

IMPROVISATION is where it is at and it takes bravehearts to do so.

MIMA's mission is to build and celebrate community by inspiring and transforming people through music.

MIMA offers free music-making workshops in communities around the world, and trains young volunteers to lead these workshops in their home communities.

MIMA's goal is to unlock the creative potential of individuals within a group and empower groups within a community.

MIMA teaches people to create new works of Art and celebrate their global heritage.

Improvisation is the guiding principle for MIMA's programs and curriculum.

Improvisation builds individual:

  • Powers of expression
  • Creative ability
  • Spirit of play
  • Courage

Improvisation builds collective:

  • Espirit de corps
  • Connectedness
  • Works of Art / Projects for World

I am an Earthian

earthian- The sustainability Program for Schools & Colleges

Environmental challenges and social issues are the biggest challenges of this century.

As an emerging economic power, India faces unique dilemmas. Social disparities and uneven growth sharply contrast with rising consumption and “growth” of the middle class. Globalisation has created a market for everything but these issues. Environmental and social problems impact the vulnerable first and the most.

India needs to be at the vanguard and to act as a role model to demonstrate how it is possible to grow national wealth in a sustainable manner. Future generations of children and young adults, are the key stakeholders who will be impacted by what is happening. The nature of these problems requires completely new ways of thinking, sensibilities, changes in behaviors and responses. They require interdisciplinary subject knowledge and a radical change in approaching the problems. Educational institutions are ecosystems where this can flower.

'earthian Sustainability Program for Schools and Colleges' is designed to act as a catalyst for fostering excellence in sustainability thinking and doing amongst young people. The annual awards program is a first step towards a deeper engagement with children and young adults in schools and colleges.
